The name of the song that I choose is titled “Another One Bites the Dust.” The song was performed by the rock group Queen. “Another One Bites the Dust,” was written by bassist John Deacon and was released in August 1980. The song was a hit during getting as high as number two ranking on the top 100 list. Some of the band members did not like the song but lead singer Freddie Mercury thought the song would make it big. These lyrics were choosen because when I go to games I like to hear this song. This song also connects to the competitive society. Another connection about this song is how it relates to the life of the band Queen.
This song really gets me hyped up, I feel like I could even go out and play the game that I am watching. I have gone to several games with my family and friends. It seems every time I go the song, “Another One Bites the Dust,” comes on and the crowd goes wild. It reminds me of when I go to San Diego Padres games. When a Padre pitcher strikes out the other teams hitters the music to this song can be heard over the loud speakers. When I hear the song I get excited and I stand up, yell. I think like the lyrics say “Another one gone and another one gone.” The Padre pitcher has sent another one back to the bench. Another example is when I go to San Diego Charger games and this song is played. The song usually is played after one of the Chargers puts a big on hit on the other team. Like the lyrics say “Bring him to the ground.” That is exactly what the Charger player has done bring the other guy to the groung. Like in baseball the football crowd goes wild. This song makes me think of one person just crushing another person in a battle.
When I talked to my mom about this song and lyrics she agreed that this song seems to be about people battling against each other. The lyrics “I’m ready, yes I’m ready for you I’m standing on my own two feet,” sounds like a competition to me. The whole song makes me think of two people having a battle with each other. My mom and I read the lyrics and sang the lyrics out loud. We agreed that it sound like one person is calling another person out to do some battle. The battle does not have to be a fist-fight. It could be an American gladiator type battle or a war of words.
From my research I believe that the song is one that shows how Queen was as a band.
The song really represents the lead singer Freddie Mercury. My research has shown me that lead singer Freddie Mercury was the reason this song made it big. He added lyrics to the song to make it a more us against other band mentality. The chorus “Another one down and another one down another bites the dust hey we’re going to get you to another one bites the dust,” seems to be saying that all others are going to be defeated and Queen will be the last one standing.
In conclusion, the song “Another One Bites the Dust,” has taught me some important things. First it taught me about researching for a famous band. Second I feel like I can understand the meaning behind the lyrics after talking them over and singing them with my mother. After this project I will do more research about songs that I hear and like. I know how to research for songs that I hear on the radio.

Dante,
I think what really makes this piece stand out is the enthusiasm. I can feel it so strongly in your writing. It is your voice!

I think this looks pretty much done. This is a great example. Looks like you chose the right song for you.
This is a test.
